Kalin Nirman Mein Prakirya Niyantran by Dr. K.K.Goswami (H.B)
The term carpet is defined as a covering primarily for floor coverings may be made by using woven, knotted, tufted, knitted, braided or nonwoven technique. Carpet/ floor coverings consist of both natural and manmade very often in blends for making durable or nondurable carpets. Different techniques like Handmade (Knotted, Tufted, Tibetan, Loom made, Durrie, Soumak, Shaggy, Nonwoven, Chain Stitched), and machine made (Axminster, Wilton, Tufted, Face to Face, Velvet, Nonwoven) exists for the segment. As a whole, knowledge of fibres as a raw material for carpets occupies significant position in the process control. If weaknesses and opportunities associated with fibres, product manufacturing techniques can be removed and exploited respectively in appropriate manner, carpet can become a more predominant domain in over all textiles products perspective. Therefore, it is very important to study the mentioned trends in respect of process control to meet the buyer’s requirements.Classification of carpets has been made in terms of interior, bath textiles etc. compiling relevant trade information. Salient processes involved need to be specially controlled have been identified. Process and controls for the entire carpet sector have been discussed in modular form. To make the chapter more reader friendly process, process flow and control points elaborated. Application of statistical technique and other related issues which can strengthen process control have also been discussed. Social, ecology /environmental, economy, cultural. /human development, health-hygeine issues have also been touched in one way or other.

Performance Measurement of Handmade Carpet Industry by Propa Goswami (H.B)
ISBN:9788182475380
Page:298
The Performance Measurement of Handmade Carpet Industry has been the theme and the same has reflected in sixteen chapters of the book. The chapters include introductory data base on textile product trade and trade performance relates to handmade carpet industry. Subsequent chapters deal on system modeling, format development etc. pertinent for business performance evaluation. It was taken care of to explain aspects like process of identification of key factors – survey and methodology and cost reduction and cost control through specific chapter(s).
Spirituality aspect also has been touched in one of the chapters for effective professional management and enabled to draw few key factors on this account too, Performance measurement & validation have also been demonstrated in few chapters.
Sixteenth chapter finally discusses on performance measurement to elaborate about new and novel Business Performance Evaluation Technique Le, BPET I and its supremacy over balanced scorecard based Business Performance Evaluation Technique i.e. BPET II. The former technique i.e. BPET I demonstrates a new direction to existing balanced scorecard developed by Robert S. Kaplan and David P. Norton which can become an useful and relevant tool for performance measurement and management.
Nevertheless Hand-made carpet industry has been unfolded in retrospect & prospect besides Identifying uniqueness of the sector. The publication is the culmination of research to facilitate sustainability of the sector and contribute towards socio – economic upliftment of millions of hands!
The book has been reviewed by competent authorities as evident from review/messages revealing authenticity and quality. This book should be a real reference material and companion for those in industry, institute/university, policy making, research/academia and all concerned.

- It is a judicious compilation of significant research contributions in the field. It would provide useful reading to the readers and stimulate their thinking for future research. It is intended to be a reference book. Medical textiles constitute one of the components of technical textiles. The major area of research in technical textiles is contributed by medical. textiles and hence this book would be a good contribution to the field of technical textiles. Over the past two decades a great deal of research has been done in the area of medical textiles, Many medical products have been developed from textile materials that are not only cost effective but also bio friendly and bio compatible to patients who use them. Medical textile products range from external applications like bandages, wound dressings, etc. to organ replacements, scaffold for tissue growth. Medical textiles find wide application in various specializations in the medical profession such as Gyaneocology, orthopaedics, neurology, oncology, ophthalmology, dermatology, cardiology, etc. Textile materials are finding to be an effective to their non textile counterparts in development of medical products.
It is hoped that the book would provide a good reading material to the readers and satisfy their research. needs to a considerable extent.SKU: n/a -

Textile Testing by John H. Skinkle (H.B)
Textile testing is carried out for one of several reasons and at several stages in the production of the goods. In general, we may say that testing is carried out in order to answer one or more questions: Are the goods satisfactory? Are the goods better or poorer than another lot? What has been the effect of a certain process on the goods? If the goods are unsatisfactory or unusual, what is the cause of the abnormality? It will be seen that to answer all of these questions except the first involves a comparison of two samples; therefore, absolute standards and tolerances are necessary only to answer the first question. The answers to the first two questions are of interest primarily to the consumer, the answers to the last two questions are of interest to the manufacturer.Where several methods are available the one considered best will be given in detail, and the other methods will be mentioned or considered in less detail. Very often, approximate results may be obtained which are satisfactory for plant use or in a comparison and which require little or no special apparatus. These are especially valuable, since many small plants cannot afford expensive apparatus, and even larger plants occasionally wish to make a test of some sort which is not usually performed because it is unnecessary, and which does not warrant the outlay of any great sum of money. At the end of each chapter, a bibliography of references is given for each test which is mentioned in the chapter, so that if the reader is interested, he can obtain further information.SKU: n/a -
