Forgotten Mutinies of India’s Freedom Struggle [hardcover] DR. Shrankhala H.Das
India’s fight for independence is often associated with landmark events like the 1857 Revolt, the Non-Cooperation Movement, and the Quit India Movement. However, scattered across the country’s long and tumultuous history are lesser-known mutinies—acts of defiance that, though overshadowed by larger uprisings, played a crucial role in shaping the freedom struggle. In Forgotten Mutinies of India’s Freedom Struggle, Dr. Sharnkhala H. Das brings to light these hidden chapters of resistance, narrating the stories of unsung heroes, rebellious battalions, and grassroots revolts that challenged colonial rule. Drawing from historical records, letters, and firsthand accounts, the book uncovers incidents that were either overlooked or deliberately erased from mainstream history. This meticulously researched work takes readers on a journey across different regions, from the early revolts of the 18th century to localized military uprisings, tribal rebellions, and spontaneous civilian protests that defied British authority. Through compelling storytelling and sharp analysis, Dr. Das offers a fresh perspective on India’s struggle for independence, emphasizing that no act of resistance—no matter how small—was insignificant in the fight for freedom. Forgotten Mutinies of India’s Freedom Struggle is an essential read for history enthusiasts, researchers, and anyone eager to rediscover the hidden voices of India’s past.

In addition to his success in the business world, he had also succeeded as a young man in winning the hand of Frances ‘Fran’ Voelker, a beautiful young socialite. While the novel provides the courtship as a backstory, the real story begins upon his retirement. Retiring at the age of fifty as a result of his selling of his successful automobile company (The Revelation Motor Company) to a far larger competitor, he sets out to do what he had always wanted to experience: a leisurely trip to Europe with his wife, with aspirations to visit some manufacturing plants looking for his next challenge.
It Can’t Happen Here
“The novel that foreshadowed Donald Trump’s authoritarian appeal.”—SalonIt Can’t Happen Here is the only one of Sinclair Lewis’s later novels to match the power of Main Street, Babbitt, and Arrowsmith. A cautionary tale about the fragility of democracy, it is an alarming, eerily timeless look at how fascism could take hold in America. Written during the Great Depression, when the country was largely oblivious to Hitler’s aggression, it juxtaposes sharp political satire with the chillingly realistic rise of a president who becomes a dictator to save the nation from welfare cheats, sex, crime, and a liberal press. Called “a message to thinking Americans” by the Springfield Republican when it was published in 1935, It Can’t Happen Here is a shockingly prescient novel that remains as fresh and contemporary as today’s news. With an Introduction by Michael Meyer and an Afterword by Gary Scharnhorst

101 Divine Thoughts Of Guru Nanak Dev JI [hardcover] Colonel Daljeet Singh Cheema
The Need To Revisit Guru Nanak’s Philosophy Opening Line of Charles Dicken’s 1859 Novel A Tale of Two Cities, “It Was The Best of Times. We are living in times when technology is changing our lives—t—the speed of thought. But we are also living in times when cherished values like equality, justice, brotherhood, love, compassion and peace seem to be evaporating from our society. Reasons may be many but the solution to the problem is only one; we should revive the ancient tradition of practising mutual respect and fraternal dialogue in society.
1984 by George Orwell (Hardback)
In England that has been shred to pieces by wars, civil conflict and revolutions, Winston Smith survives in a one-room apartment in the small province of Airstrip One. In a dictatorial society where freedom of individuality is suppressed and thoughts are monitored by the Thought Police, the Party makes all the rules, guided by its leader Big Brother. Tele screens, cameras and secret microphones in every home enable the Thought Police in identifying citizens that might compromise the Party’s command. Winston works under the Ministry of Truth as an editor and his job is to revolutionise history by rewriting records, altering photographs, managing the ‘unpersons’ and discarding original documents in a ‘memory hole’. Winston soon develops a keen interest in the real history of the world and starts writing a secret journal criticising the Party and Big Brother. He crosses paths with Julia, who shares his contempt towards the Party, and they begin their apparently secret love affair by meeting in blue-collar neighbourhoods that do not have tele screens. Believing that they are escaping the Thought Police’s radar, both join the Brotherhood, an underground society that intends to rage war against the Party but they are unaware that Big Brother is always watching. With plot twists that are breath-taking this book does not shy away from questioning the modern world which explains why throughout its publication history, the book has either been banned or challenged as subversive and claimed to be ideologically corrupting.

A battle-weary officer, a Swiss mercenary fighting for the Serbian army, takes refuge in Raina Petkoff’s bedchamber, where she agrees to hide him from the authorities. In response to his matter-of-fact account of the war, in which he debunks her fiancé Sergius’ heroism, Raina at first ridicules the intruder’s cowardliness but ultimately appreciates his honesty. Sometime later, after the war is over, the officer, Captain Bluntschli, returns. By the end of the play, Sergius has promised himself to the maidservant Louka, whose fiancé, the manservant Nicola, willingly forgoes his claim to her, and Raina has become engaged to Bluntschli, who has just inherited a number of Swiss hotels.

The Orion: Or Researches Into the Antiquity of the Vedas by Bal Gangadhar Tilak (H.B)
ORION AND HIS BELT Agrahdyana Agrayana in the older works.. Probable derivation of hdyana–The Agrayana sacrifices–Their number and nature Performed every half-year in Vasanta and Sharad–Greek legends of Urion-Their similarity to Vedic legends–German traditions and festivities-Stag and hind–Twelve nights-Dogdays-All of which indicate the commencement of the year in Orion –Dr. Kuhn’s explanation is insufficient–The usual adjuncts of Orion–His belt, staff and lion’s skin–The aivyaonghana of Haoma in the Avesta–The yajnopavtta of the Brfthmans– Their sacred character probably borrowed from the belt of Orion or Yajna–Use of mikhald, ajina and danda in the Upanayana ceremony–Probably in imitation of the costume of Orion or Prajftpati, the first of the Brahmans- Derivation of Orion from Agrayana-Its probability–Phonetic difficulties–Conclusion. In the last chapter 1 have quoted an observation of Plutarch that the Greeks gave their own name to the constellation of Orion, and have there discussed some Vedic legends which corroborate Plutarch’s remarks and indicate that the vernal equinox was in Orion at that time. In the present chapter I mean to examine other legends which go to shew that the constellation of Orion was known and figured before the Greeks, the Parsis, and the Indians separated from their common home. and that the legends or the traditions so preserved, and perhaps the name of the constellation, can be naturally and easily explained only on the supposition that the vernal equinox was then near the asteism of Mrigashiras.
