Arms and The Man by George Bernard Shaw (Hardback)
Arms and the Man, romantic comedy in three acts by George Bernard Shaw, produced in 1894 and published in 1898. The play is set in the Petkoff household in Bulgaria and satirizes romantic ideas concerning war and heroism. A battle-weary officer, a Swiss mercenary fighting for the Serbian army, takes refuge in Raina Petkoff’s bedchamber, where she agrees to hide him from the authorities. In response to his matter-of-fact account of the war, in which he debunks her fiancé Sergius’ heroism, Raina at first ridicules the intruder’s cowardliness but ultimately appreciates his honesty. Sometime later, after the war is over, the officer, Captain Bluntschli, returns. By the end of the play, Sergius has promised himself to the maidservant Louka, whose fiancé, the manservant Nicola, willingly forgoes his claim to her, and Raina has become engaged to Bluntschli, who has just inherited a number of Swiss hotels.

Desert Gold by Zane Grey (HARDCOVER)
Pulse-pounding action and adventure, while at the same time philosophical and sophisticated, Desert Gold packs a western- style punch! A face haunted Cameron-a woman’s face. It was there in the white heart of the dying campfire; it hung in the shadows that hovered over the flickering light; it drifted in the darkness beyond. This hour, when the day had closed and the lonely desert night set in with its dead silence, was one in which Cameron’s mind was thronged with mmories of a time long past-of a home back in Peoria, of a woman he had wronged and lost, and loved too late. He was a prospector for gold, a hunter of solitude, a lover of the drear, rock-ribbed infinitude, because he wanted to be alone to remember.

Emma (An Original Classic Edition) by Jane Austen, Hardback
- ISBN: 9788182478718
- Pages: 460
- “Time will generally lessen the interest of every attachment not within the daily circle.” Emma Woodhouse, a headstrong, beautiful and witty twenty-year-old resident of the village of Highbury, is overconfident about her matchmaking skills. Conjuring successful love matches is an art she thinks she has mastered—especially after her self-proclaimed accomplishment at finding Miss Taylor, her governess, a suitable partner in Mr. Weston, a village Widower next, she takes it upon herself to find a perfect match for her friend Harriet Smith. She even convinces her to refuse the proposal of Robert Martin, a well-to-do farmer. While Harriet cannot deny her feelings for Mr. Martin, Emma wishes her friend to be a gentleman wife. Mr. Knightley, Emma’s brother-in-law, observes Emma’s matchmaking efforts and is contemptuous of her meddling. What follows in this circuit of misconstrued romances is a series of conflicts, misunderstandings and suspicions. Is Emma overestimating her ability as a matchmaker or Mr. Knightley being unnecessarily critical of her motive? Emma (1815) was Jane Austen last novel to be completed and published during her lifetime.
